Kwame Awuah-Darko (CEO)

 

 

Mr. Awuah-Darko has extensive experience in the finance and insurance sectors spanning across Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Equipped with over 28 years of prolific feats in Academia, Governance, Public and Private service, Mr. Awuah-Darko has been an effective leader of institutions and bodies he has served.

In October 2013, he was appointed by the Government of Ghana as the Managing Director responsible for the country’s largest Petroleum Storage and Logistics Company, “Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST)”.

As Managing Director of BOST, he restructured the Company’s operations from zero imports in 2013 to running a minimum of five out of the six fully functionally and profitable petroleum terminals across the country. He established a petroleum-trading department in the company and within 24 months, the company traded petroleum products of mainly Gasoline, Gasoil, LPG and Crude Oil in the West African market to the tune of USD1.5billion.

In June 2015, the Government of Ghana accredited Mr. Awuah-Darko with additional responsibility as the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s National Petroleum Refinery Asset, the “Tema Oil Refinery (TOR)”. As CEO of the Tema Oil Refinery, Mr. Awuah-Darko initiated, implemented and managed the restructuring of the entire refinery operations while saving the company millions of dollars by restructuring an inherited existing refinery debt of $650million and reduced it by $300million dollars during his tenure in office.

In addition, Mr. Awuah-Darko attracted several strategic investment opportunities for the country’s downstream sector including pipeline infrastructure, storage terminals, refinery blending units and offshore mooring systems.

Mr. Awuah-Darko holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors in Law from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana and an MBA from the Henley Business School, Greenlands, Henley on Thames, United Kingdom.
